Restoration

MG TC

This MG TC left the factory in 1949 finished in red with a matching red interior.

It was shipped to Australia aboard the SS Peebles in 1950, one of only eighteen MG TCs carried on that voyage. The car was originally purchased from Lennox Motors in Parramatta in February 1950 by Mr Jones of New South Wales.

Over the decades, MG TC has accumulated a rich and colourful history before eventually arriving at Garagisti in 2024.

When the vehicle arrived, it was in extremely poor condition, having been severely affected by the Brisbane floods of 2022. The car had reportedly remained submerged for approximately two weeks and was then left untouched for the next 2 years following the flood damage.
As part of the restoration process, extensive research into the vehicle’s history revealed that it had previously undergone a full concours-standard restoration by renowned MG restorer Ron Taylor of Gosford, possibly one of the final cars completed before his passing. During that restoration, the car was re-finished in cream while retaining its original red interior, which remarkably survived the flood damage and remains in outstanding condition after it received care and treatment.

Following a comprehensive restoration, MG TC has once again been returned to the condition and character that made it such a special motor car. Considerable effort was invested in reversing the effects of the flood damage while preserving as much of the vehicle’s originality and history as possible, ensuring that this important piece of motoring.

Following the comprehensive restoration the car participated in The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive in 2025. It is now owned by Paolo and has become a much-loved addition to his classic car collection.  The heritage can continue to be enjoyed for generations to come.
