Recreation Build

Zakspeed Ford Escort RS 1800

It all started with the passion of Paolo Piazza Musso after having attended the Wynns 1000 race in 1977.

Paolo was at the Kyalami Race Circuit in South Africa to watch his father Giovanni race in an Alfa at this event.  The race was a 9 hour endurance, however the consistency of the Zakspeed saw it win the race and the day overall.  Paolo was part of the many fans celebrating the victory in the Zakspeed Escort RS 1800 by local hero Jody Scheckter and it was love at first sight for Paolo and the Zakspeed.  The build commenced in 2007 with may years dedicated to researching information.  The project was a labour of love and finally completed in 2016.  All this hard work and dedication paid off when in 2018 Paolo and the Zakspeed were officially invited to enter and attend the Goodwood Members Meeting in the UK to showcase the car due to it meeting all the requirements to be officially recognised as an authentic recreation of the original vehicle.  The car proved so popular that it received a second invitation to return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed later that year.  This was the Silver Jubilee year and has the biggest personalities attending from the previous 25 years of the festival.
